An “Eggscellent” Monday :)!

This is our last week studying South America and the rainforest.  I am sad to leave!  We have learned so many new things and participated in so many fun activities that it’s going to be hard to beat the past couple of weeks.

For Bible today, we copied the last part of our weekly verse, went over our prayer card, and read another chapter in Nate Saint.  Then we got to make an actual model of Nate’s Piper Family Cruiser plane.  Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is still serving missionaries today.  They fly more thatn 40,000 flights each year!  Ryan asked a great question during our group time.  We were talking about how God “calls” people to serve Him and Ryan wanted to know how I felt “called” to home school.  We talked about the different ways that God speaks to us (through his word, convictions, other believers, etc.).  I am so glad that we have these special times together to talk and learn more about God and how He works in our lives!

For Geography, we colored the flag of Brazil and wrote down a few facts while we listened to some more music from South America countries.  Justin worked from home today and the boys were excited to play the geography game with Dad :).

We continued our study of the rainforest in Science and got to complete two fun experiments with eggs.  We talked about how God’s design is amazing!  Eggs are an arch shape which is one of the sturdiest and strongest shapes in architecture.  The first experiment involved trying to break an egg with your hand while applying equal pressure on all sides.  Sounds easy, right?  Well, nobody was able to break it!  Justin couldn’t even do it!  CRAZY!  The second experiment involved seeing how much weight four egg shells could hold.  Our eggs held the weight of five cookbooks before they broke under the weight of the sixth.  The boys took the books upstairs and the six books weighed 13 pounds.  Wow!

We had another fun day of learning with My Father’s World!

Verse of the Day:   For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.   Colossians 1:16
