Ramblings from Russia:

We got off to a great start in our newest country of Russia.  We found it on our map and globe (not hard to do since it’s a HUGE country :)), listened to some Russian music, and watched a Families of Russia video.  The boys copied the new memory verse and colored their Russian flag pictures while I read a story from Kingdom TalesKingdom Tales is collection of stories that are similar to fairy tales except they are from a Christian viewpoint.  Today’s story was about “vigilante” grannies who fought evil beings at night.  It was full of symbolism and was actually about a group of grandmothers who stayed up at night when everyone else was asleep.  They spent time on their knees praying for the safety and well being of their friends and family.  It took some prompting before the kids grasped the story, but lead to a good discussion about who prays for them on a daily basis.  Very creative!

Verse of the Day:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,  being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,  and giving  joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified youto share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
