Our special project today was to write our names in cuneiform (one of the earliest know forms of written expression).  Instead of using clay tablets, we got to make our writings in sugar cookie dough!  The boys both agreed that the ancient way of writing was very time-consuming and are glad that we now have pencils, paper, and the alphabet :).  We practiced looking up verses in the Old Testament and then learned about the earliest cities.  We labeled a map of the Fertile Crescent and learned that the people settled in that certain area (between the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers) since it rarely rained and they could utilize the river water for their crops.  Other subjects that we covered included Math, Language Arts, Science (Brendan completed part of his study guide for Module 1 in General Science), Art, and History.  I hope everyone has a fun, relaxing weekend!

  1. Oh yeah! Writing on a sugar cookie is way better than writing on clay tablets! You get to eat it! Yum! 🙂

  2. Amy, I love getting your emails and reading all about what you and the kids are doing – this is awesome!
