This week we will be studying and making a model of the tabernacle that God instucted the people to make in the desert. I made a paper model on Saturday to help the kids understand while we made ours together. Today we learned about the basic plan for the courtyard and tabernacle. We made a model of the Ark of the Covenant, manna, the stone tablets, and Aaron’s rod. I had already premade the Most Holy Place and the Holy Place seperated by a curtain. Each day, we will make more items to “build” our tabernacle and will learn some of the symbolism involved with each item. I’m so glad that we visited the life-size tabernacle reproduction in Pennsylvania (http://www.mennoniteinfoctr.com/tabernacle.asp). It is still fresh in our minds as we study it more in depth. We added the last commandment and our Greek word for the week is logos, which means word or study. Four more days until Christmas break :)!
