I went to my niece’s school Christmas concert this past week (which was wonderful by the way :)) and the chorus teacher had the kids repeat a definition of “character”.  They said “character is what you do when no one is looking.”  Wow.  That is powerful!  The funny thing is that we may put on a good show in front of others…we act a certain way to fit in, put on our happy face even when something doesn’t feel right, watch what others are watching, laugh at jokes that aren’t really funny, and so on.  Then, when we are “all alone” we feel like we can just “be ourselves”, but we need to remember that we are never truly alone.  God knows what we think, what we do, what we say, what we watch, what we read, what we eat, what we drink, what we listen to…everything we have ever done in the past, everything that we are doing at this exact moment, and everything we will do in the future.  Scary, isn’t it? It’s terryifying if you stop to really think about it.  And yet, He loves us anyway!  Now that is AMAZING GRACE!!!

  1. Amy,
The pictures of the children sharing with the older folks are precious! What a blessing for all, young and old alike!

And, I love what you wrote about character and that you are teaching Brendan and Ryan about the importance of good character. You are doing a fantastic job as their teacher and more importantly as their mother! You are blessing, Sweet Daughter!

    Love you,
