So today we got to build a Roman arch using Jello boxes. I had everything pre-cut, taped, and ready to go. It should be easy, right? We read the directions, reinforced that we’d have to work together as a team, and read that it may take several tries before it worked correctly. Well the first try failed, so we re-adjusted our cans and boxes and tried again. Another fail. Then the boys both insisted that we needed more Jello boxes for it to work – never mind the fact that I had just read the instructions and knew for a fact that it was possible to build an arch with the required 15 boxes! Others had done it and so could we! So we tweaked, taped, and kept trying until we figured it out! It may not have been the best looking arch ever built, but we persevered and got it done 🙂 ! We also have a great appreciation for the ancient Roman architects!
I also have been thinking a lot today about the government “shut down”. I don’t understand all of the ramifications of that decision and it’s frustrating that our government can’t work together to find solutions, but I wanted to remind everybody that:
I know that sometimes the future seems bleak and complicated, but it helps to remember that God already knew that this was coming. The Bible says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6: 25-27)
Enough said 🙂 ………
