Reflecting Beauty:

As women, we are bombarded daily with images of ” beautiful” women:  tall, thin, dressed in the latest styles (or barely dressed at all), gorgeous hair, no scars, no cellulite, no spider veins, no stretch marks, no muffin top, … no imperfections!  It’s also NOT REAL!

Most of the celebrities that we see have had plastic surgery, their lips filled, and their wrinkles erased by botox.  They often have personal trainers, can afford special meal plans, and spend hours at the salon.

Who can live up to that?
WHY do we feel like we need to?

Last night I had the opportunity to lead a Bible study at my house and we discussed what true beauty is…and it is VERY different from how the world defines beauty!

Check out what God says:

1 Samuel 16:7  But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Proverbs 31:30  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

1 Peter 3:3-4  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

John 7:24  Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.

Ecclesiastes 3:11   He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men: yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Proverbs15:13  A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

Doesn’t that just want to make you sigh with relief?  God looks inside of our hearts, not at our outward appearances.  We are “fearfully and wonderfully made” and He loves us JUST the way we are!!!
