We had scheduled a day at Cobblestone with our FAITH homeschool group earlier in the year. The boys and I got there around 10:15 this morning and by 11:00 they were “bored” and “ready to go home”…none of the other families had shown up yet. This wasn’t an RSVP event – just show up if you want to hang out.
Uh, oh…
I was already planning my “speech”:
“You know, things don’t always turn out the way we want them to. Life is full of disappointments. You have a choice – you can choose to make the best of it and have fun anyway, or you can choose to make yourself miserable.”
“Seriously!?!? I would’ve been thrilled to come to a place like this when I was a kid! Do you guys know how spoiled you are? There are children in the world that would LOVE to have a day at the pool!”
“Blah, blah, blah “….
Just as I was walking back across the pool area to give the boys a piece of my mind, Alison and Claire walked in! Phew 🙂 !
The boys finally decided/chose to have a positive attitude and guess what? They actually had FUN!!! They played ball, threw the torpedo, met new friends, went down the slides, conquered the hippo ( 🙂 ) and ended up having a blast! Alison and I got the chance to visit and catch up. We even stopped at Sweet Frog on the way home, ran into more friends, and ended up not getting home until 3:30!
Very thankful for a successful, FUN summer day!
Yeah! You go, Brendan! 😉 Collin, look at all the fun you missed!
Looks like you all had a fun day!
Love you all,
Grammy
That is the biggest smile I have ever seen on Brendan’s face! Pappy
