It’s Turkey Time…

…No, not that kind yet!  We’ve been learning about the Ottoman Turks 🙂 . IMG_4310

Ryan tried a new recipe yesterday called “Turkish Delight”. In it’s authentic form, it is commonly made with rose water but we chose the lemon flavored version instead.

Of course Ryan wanted to eat the leftover lemon 🙂 :

Then Brendan had to try it out:

And not wanting to leave the dogs out, the boys decided to let Winston and Max join in the fun:

You’ve got a treat for ME???

Ummm….this isn’t what I thought it would be…

…no problem though – I’ll eat anything 🙂 !

Max wasn’t as impressed.

We refrigerated the mixture overnight to let it harden.  This afternoon we cut it into one inch pieces and coated them in powdered sugar.

This was NOT one of our favorite recipes.  The squares were a weird, chewy consistency and the flavor wasn’t the best but at least the process was fun!

Ryan’s reaction says it all 🙂 !!!

OK, time to keep it real ya’ll 🙂 – this is the face that I usually get in response to the camera coming out during our school day:

Sometimes it’s good to let people know that our days aren’t always full of smiling, cheerful, and eager children who are ready to learn….hee, hee!!!

We are still learning about arthropods including insects, arachnids, and crustaceans. The rest of our studies are going well too and we are looking forward to Thanksgiving Break!
