We had a great Thanksgiving break and got back into the swing of school yesterday. We have now moved into Corinthians for our memory work. Brendan and Ryan think it’s cool that our verse is part of a popular song on the radio by the group For King and Country. You can see the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-2dKOfbC9c .
We are moving into the “Dark Ages” in history, learning about mosaics in art, and continuing to learn about anatomy for science. Brendan had to conduct several experiments today where he had to take his temperature…his normal temp, his temp when he was cold (he went out on the porch barefoot and in shorts…brrrr 🙂 ), and after exercising for five minutes. FUN! Ryan is studying the respiratory system and we put together a model from the Body Book. We then went skating for P.E. this afternoon and headed to guitar lessons. It’s been a busy day! We also had fun taking the boys’ annual Christmas pictures…never a dull moment 🙂 !
It’s been another fun-filled, busy week here at the Hatfield home 🙂 !
We are now studying the Roman army which I think Brendan and Ryan are really enjoying (boys – LOL!). Brendan is rolling along in General Science and will take a test on Module 11 Monday and Ryan has been learning about skin as part of his science. We are almost finished with The Bronze Bow and it’s perfect for what we’re studying right now. I know I’ve said it before, but I love how My Father’s World coordinates everything! Both boys are still plugging along with math, spelling, reading, writing, and guitar.
Last night at a homeschool meeting, some of my SWEET friends surprised me with a birthday cake! Apparently my husband was behind all of it – thanks Justin! I am soooo blessed!!!!!
This morning we had the opportunity to serve at church by helping to fold shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We had so much fun together! The kids all worked hard and had fun seeing how fast we could fold the boxes and how big they could make their “wall”. If you’ve never heard of or participated in Operation Christmas Child, go to their website at http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/ and check it out! It’s an AMAZING program!
